Dr. Eric Grigsby

Dr. Eric Grigsby is a nationally recognized leader in the field of pain management, with over 30 years of clinical experience dedicated to improving the lives of patients living with chronic pain. As the Founder and Medical Director of Napa Pain Institute, he has built a reputation for compassionate, evidence-based care that integrates the latest advancements in non-operative spine treatment, medication safety, and interventional therapies.

Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, Dr. Grigsby earned his undergraduate degrees in Biology and Economics from Brown University and developed an early interest in pain care while working at Boston Children’s Hospital. He went on to graduate from Boston University School of Medicine and completed training in General Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Pain Management at the Mayo Clinic, where he later joined the medical staff and taught at the Mayo Medical School.

In 1989, Dr. Grigsby moved to California to establish the first Pain Management Center at UC Davis Medical Center. In 1992, he founded his private practice in Napa, which has since grown to a multidisciplinary team of over 50 professionals who serve patients across Northern California and the western United States.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Grigsby holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and frequently speaks on topics such as spinal disorders, the responsible use of medications in pain care, and the legal and ethical dimensions of chronic illness treatment.
